Liverpool U18 boss Steven Gerrard loses first game in charge at Anfield


England international, Steven Gerrard's first game at his former club as a manager finished in disappointment after his Liverpool Under-18s were thrashed out of the FA Youth Cup by Arsenal.

Liverpool Under 18 team were thrashed 3-2 by the youthful Gunners after additional time at Liverpool pitch on Saturday evening.

Arsenal player John-Jules won it for the guests as his late strike ruled out 16-year-old Curtis Jones' two goals that had put Liverpool 2-1 up halfway during the time half.

Talking after the fourth-round tie, Gerrard told journalists: "I'm frustrated with the outcome of the game.

Meanwhile, regarding what the players gave, I believe the players delivered their best on the pitch today.

The outcome could have favoured the Reds in any case, however credit to Arsenal, congrats to them. They deserved the outcome.

Shockingly for us, we lost the game and we need to work towards our weak area.

Gerrard who played for The Reds Senior team before moving out hopes the U18 will improve in their techniques and abilities.

Stephen Gerrard played along side Torres, Carragher, Alonso under Rafa Benitez squad at the senior team.
