South Africans attack Nigerians, burnt houses

Nigerian area in South Africa disclosed on Saturday that a group of hoodlums vandalised four shops and a few houses owned by Nigerian nationals in Krugersdorp , close to Johannesburg .

The Chairman of the Nigerian Union in the area, Mr james , told newsmen on the phone from Johannesburg, South Africa that the assaults started on Jan . 18 .

James revealed that the hoodlums accused Nigerian citizen of kidnapping a young south African girl and raped her in the territory.

" The South Africans hoodlums attacked our homes and shops , scattered our properties, while  a lot of Nigerians sustained various degrees of injuries."

We have abandoned our properties for safety since the hoodlums are trying to launch another attack on us.

The chairman has asked the Nigerian foreign ministry to intervene in the matter before it gets out of hand.

Mr james revealed that the wellbeing of Nigerians in the country is not save, as the group are ready to strike again.

I can affirm that Nigerians in the zone have been assaulted . I am pained and sincerely down as calls from Nigerians overflowed my telephone from different areas.

" The South African government should call their citizens to order to avoid further loss of life and properties, the chairman said.

Mr james said that two Nigerians had been murdered in South Africa in Rustenburg and Durban since the assaults started .

" Two Nigerians have been murdered , numerous attacks and harmed in crisp Xenophobic assaults and additional - legal executing , " he said .

Two weeks back , more than five Nigerian claimed shops and houses were set ablaze in Rustenburg.
