Fire outbreak renders 300 homeless in Yenagoa
Tragedy Stroke in Ekeki area of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Saturday after wild fire razed an apartment destroying lots of properties and valuables.
According to journalist, the fire which started at 2am, razed assets worth millions of naira.
The reason for the fire has not been determined.
Meanwhile, there was no death toll.
Occupants of the razed houses situated behind the Ekeki Divisional Police Station said generator sets, TVs, parcels of textures, enormous totals of cash and telephones, among others were lost.
A resident known as Nicholas, said the fire may have been caused by a lighted candle as there was no power supply when the occurrence happened.
The eyewitness said that fire fighters who came with three vehicles prevented the fire from escalating to the Ekeki Police Station.
"The incident started around, 2a.m. We have not rested from that time till now.
Three fire vehicles came and halted the fire. If not it could have entered the police headquarters.
"We don't really know what caused the fire. we don't have a clue. But the inferno began with a little smoke
Coming out from somebody's room.
"We are more than 300 residents living here: families, married couples and their kids.
"One residents lost N300,000 in the inferno. While another occupants also lost 150,000
