History is about to be made and might become difficult to surmount if it becomes a reality.
The two big fries in Hollywood, Walt Disney Co. and 20th Century Fox are about to be come one entity as Walt Disney Co is set to acquire 20th Century Fox and other entertainment and sports assets from Rupert Murdoch’s empire for a mouth watering figure of $52.4 billion.
This new deal was made public in an announcement on Thursday morning by Disney Management in what it tagged as Disney’s boldest acquisition ever.
Disney is taking a debt that would amount close to $14 billion which will result in a total deal value of about $66 billion, while the shareholders of Fox would add up about 25% of the bulked-up Disney, if it is approved by regulators.
In respect to this new deal, Disney would take over the the following properties which include; 20th Century Fox movie and television studio, Fox’s 22 regional sports channels, cable entertainment brands FX and National Geographic, and Fox’s portfolio of international operations, including a fast-growing pay-TV service in India.
We hope the deal comes to a reality.
