- No love lost between Amaechi and Wike
- Amaechi says if Gov. Wike is in his toilet or outside the toilet, he has one agenda which is ‘Amaechi’
- Amaechi describes Wike as his son
There is no love lost between Rotimi Amaechi and Nyesom Wike, the two political figures are known for looking for each other faults at the slightest opportunity.
The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, in a new ststement reveals that Nyesom Wike, who is the governor of Rivers state, has no other agenda except one which is himself, “Amaechi”.
Rotimi Amaechi who once served in the position of Nyesom Wike as the Gov. of Rivers state under the People Democratic Party PDP between 2007 and 2015 before switching to the All People Congress APC said this during a program, Question Time, on Channels Television.
Amaechi said; “The governor has just one agenda, if he is in his toilet, ‘Amaechi’; if he is outside his toilet, ‘Amaechi.'
The minister went ahead to deny any rift or disagreement betweem himself and Gov. of Rivers, Wike, as he described him as one of his sons.
He said; “He (Wike) was my staff; he is like one of my sons"
“Why should I engage him? He was local government chairman when I was the speaker of the state.”
However, Amaechi stressed the fact that the impact he left while he was the Gov. of Rivers is still being felt in the state especially in the Education sector.
According to him, he said; “When I was governor, I used Rivers state’s money on projects in the state. If you visit the state, you will see the primary schools that we built. No matter what the governor does, the projects are there."
Amaech revealed during his tenure he hired over 13,200 teachers who are still alive, established primary schools which are no longer maintained and finally he appointed a contractor whose responsibility was to come to school like the children.
Despite all of these, there is only one thing that makes Amaechi and Wike similar which is that the two are from the same ethnic group, Ikwere in Rivers state but they can't stand the presence of one another.
The two fell out with each after Amaechi left the PDP when former President Goodluck Jonathan was running for another tenure.
