Nigerian Governors support the creation of state police
The call for creation of state police has been on in Nigeria for a long time as the Nigerian police is run and managed by the Federal Government.
During the tenure of The current Minister for Housing, Works and Power, Babatunde Raji Fashola, the then Governor of Lagos, he elaborated on the need for state policing but it didn't materialize.
However, latest information coming in has disclosed that all the Thirty-six states governors Today gave their support for the creation of state police as the insecurity in the country are on the rise.
Gov. Abdulaziz Yari, the National chairman of Nigeria Governors forum declared the support during the National Security Summit put together by the Nigerian Senate in Abuja.
The new endorsement of the act came few days after Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo gave his support for the creation of the state police.
The chairman, who happens to be the current Governor of Zamfara State revealed the creation of state police would help Nigeria defeat the country's current security challenges in some parts of the country.
