Manchester City ranks number one football club with the most expensive squad in history
Latest ranking of the Football Club with the most expensive squad in history has been released and the first position was given to English club, Manchester City having spent €878million on footballers in the transfer market.
The new ranking was released after a research carried out by CIES Football Observatory, as it showed the number one team on the Premier League table had spent above other clubs listed in the top five leagues in Europe.
Aymeric Laporte, which is Manchester City newest signing cost the club a fee of €65m during the January transfer window.
The English club total spending is above that of France giant, Paris Saint-Germain with an entire squad costing €805m with more than quarter of the figure use to pay the fee of world-record €222m signing of Brazilian player, Neymar from Barcelona.
Other clubs included in the list include, Manchester United which is number three on the list with €747m, Barcelona comes forth with €725m, Chelsea with €592m and finally Real Madrid with €497m.
Aside Manchester City, other English club which made the top 20 include Liverpool with €461m, Arsenal with €403m, Everton with €365m, Tottenham with €358m, Southampton with €229m and Crystal Palace with €225m.
