Kogi State medical authorities has recorded another outbreak of Lassa fever as a medicinal specialist working with the Federal Medical Center, has been affirmed to be the patient of the ailment .
Dr Olatunde Alabi, The medical chairman of FMC who informed newsmen on Saturday in Lokoja , said that the male specialist was tested and diagnosed of the illness on Jan . 19 .
He stated that the doctors blood test was sent to the Federal Medical Center , Irrua Edo State for research analysis report, stating that the report came out positive.
The FMC medical chairman said that the doctor have been taken to irrua for further investigation and treatment on Saturday.
As indicated by the medics board , the World Health Organization , the state Ministry of Health and different partners have been briefed on the issue, and are as of now helping the medical team in different ways.
Mr Alabi revealed that both families and friends who came in contact with the victim have been under observation .
Alabi said that the organization with pertinent partners had started investigation on how to trace the source of the disease and place the affected victims under treatment.
He disclosed that the center is now willing to work on awareness for its members in order to avoid human to human transmission of the disease.
Therapeutic expert encouraged individuals from general society to attempt to report instances of fever ahead of schedule to the closest hospital for early treatment .
