- Two Christian bakers ordered to pay a whopping sum of $135,000 for refusing to provide services to gay couples
Two bakers and owners of Sweet Cakes and Melissa bakery, Oregon, Aaron and Melissa Klein owing to their religion have been found guilty of refusing to bake a wedding cake for gay partners, Rachel and Laurel Bowman-Cryer in 2013.
The two bakers who happened to be Christians have been ordered by a court to pay a whopping sum of $135,000 as fine for their discrimination. ⠀⠀
The Kleins had claimed they couldn't provide their service because their religious beliefs was against same-sex couple.
They were however found guilty of violating 2007 state law that protects the rights of the LGBTQ community by Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries.
The gay coupled had filed a suit against the bakers for their refusal and demanded money for their emotional distress.
The Kleins who had 5 years ago appealed a judgement in favour of the gay couple were on Thursday, after the commencement of the case found guilty of the 6-figure fine against them again. ⠀⠀

The gay couple after the court proceeding had said; “It does not matter how you were born or who you love." They further went on to claim equality under the law.
