- Nigerian President, Buhari urges Muslim clerics to preach against corruption in mosques
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari in his quest against corruption has called on Muslim clerics and Islamic religious leaders in Nigeria to preach against the evils of corruption in their mosques.
He also called on the clerics to pray for the survival of the country, just as they prayed for his recovery when he was sick.
Buhari, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, yesterday at the 55th anniversary and national conference of the League of Imams and Alfas in Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states, which took place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, lauded the League for staying together for 55 years, as he told religious leader  to always impress it on their followers that corrupt persons will not enter Al-Janah.
The president also enjoined the League not to shy away from passing useful suggestions, recommendations and advice that could move the country forward across to him.
The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun while declaring the conference opened asked the religious body to always inculcate Islamic values in Muslim Uma’ah.
The President General of the League, Sheikh Muhammed Bello during his welcome address said that the conference was the first of its kind since the body was founded by late Islamic scholar, Sheikh Adam Abdulahi and affirmed that the League will focus on the unity among Muslims in the South West and the country at large.
The ex Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Sarafa Tunji Ishola, was also officially turban as the Baba Adinni of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states.
