- Nigerian Police assaults students of MAPOLY during protest
- MAPOLY has been on strike for 3 months
Strike action has been one of the bane of Nigerian Educational sector which has been hindering the progress in the sector.
According to reports, there have been a lockdown in major areas of Abeokuta, Ogun State, as the students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) protested against the delay in their semester examination.
During the protest, the students were spotted in black attires holding different placards to display their dissatisfaction.
However, it was learnt that during the protest, some of the Nigerian Policemen reportedly assaulted the students for demanding an immediate action by state government to have their institution reopened for normal academic activities.
According to the students, they claimed to have been at home for 3 months on strike.
The students complained they have been at home for three months and there is no hope in sight of writing their examination this year.
It was gathered the reason for the strike was as a result of the disagreement between the Ogun State Government and members of the Academic Staff Union Polytechnics (ASUP) of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic chapter over the relocation of the institution to Ipokia, an area in Ogun State.
