- Nigerian Army battle Boko Haram insurgents to evade a military base takeover
The war between Terrorists,Boko Haram and the Nigerian military is not yet over as the insurgents clashed with the Military men for close to one hour with the Insurgents trying to overtake a military base in the North East of Nigeria.
The Nigerian Army fought brave against Boko Haram terrorist to evade the takeover. This new clash with the Military bring fears that the insurgents may have regrouped itself.
According to Lawan Bukar Wasaram, who happens to be an ex chairman of the Kaga district, the location where Mainok the place where the attack occur is, revealed a large numbers of Boko Haram militants tried to take over the base.
Bukar said; "So far, 14 of the attackers have been killed and two of their (pick-up) trucks impounded," "The situation has been brought under control by troops."
Another eyewitness of the scene, a leader of the civilian militia in the Borno state capital, Maiduguri, also gave the same story as Bukar's, the only difference was that he said the number of death was nine.
He said; "They attempted to overrun the military base but troops fought back. They had reinforcements."
A Motorist Laminu Isa who was caught up in between the shooting with hundred of passengers who were travelling to Maiduguri from Damaturu, said they had to halt their journey and seek cover. Laminu gave account that the insurgents came in eight pick up vans and told them they weren't after civilians.
He said; "They came in eight pick-up trucks. We saw them when they crossed the roads and many of us stopped in panic. But they told us they weren't after civilians."
