Muslim group tackle Fayose over Christmas clothes for children

The Ekiti State Chapter of the National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO) has denounced Governor Ayo
Fayose of lifting Christianity as the state's religion.

The Muslim youth depicted the issue as "inadmissible and a breach of Section 10 of the 1999 Constitution (as changed)."

The law reads that "the Government of the Federation or of a state might not receive any religion as state religion."

They recommended that the governor, as opposed to burning through millions to buy and sew Christmas garments for the kids should make immediate payments of salaries to their parents who are saddled with the obligation of spending their kids.

In an announcement on Monday, the NACOMYO State Coordinator, Tajudeen Ahmed, said in as much as the group was not opposed to any type of child welfare or improvement, it was stressed that "our ward as a state is being used to advance a specific religion.

The group contended that as Christians anticipate Christmas and New Year, Muslims likewise anticipate celebrations like id-el-maulud orid-el-fitri subsequently "as the legislative leader of all, he is required to reach out to the two Christians and Muslims in square with measure."

NACOMYO stated: "We hereby call Governor Fayose to suspend his arranged festival of Christians and Christianity amid the pending Yuletide time frame.
