Kaduna court stops sack of over 20,000 primary school teachers


The Kaduna state of the National Industrial Court has halted the sack of more than 20,000 Kaduna primary school teachers who didn't pass their competency test.

The state leader, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai had said that the 21,780 grade teachers who did not pass the competency test would be sacked.

The case was before deferred to February 6, 2018 for hearing

Legal counselors speaking to the state's Attorney General and the State Government, and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) declined remarks when drawn nearer by writers.

A few teachers who addressed journalist said the decision was empowering. "It has given us trust. We trust too that the government will comply with the court decisy,"

Zainab Sanusi, an instructor, said.
