Tragedy has struck in South American country, Ecuador, where it was reported that an explosion took place and claim the life of a child with ten other people injured on Christmas Eve.

The explosion according to the information provided by the country's government Today, took place at a restaurant in Ecuador’s capital Quito.

The blast occurred at 11:11 pm on Sunday (0411 GMT Monday) and was believed to have come from a gas tank exploding at the restaurant located in the north of the city.

As the explosion occurred, those inside the restaurant at the time felt the impact of the explosion as they got injured before they were transferred to hospital.

Presently, only one child is dead with 10 others injured, however, the authorities said the number of people injured may rise but it has bden confirmed that nobody is trapped in the building, which partially collapsed aftermath of the explosion.

Currently the conditions of those injured in the explosion remain unknown.
