- Passengers train collides with freight train in South California, two dead and several injured
Further information from South Carolina Emergence Management Division (SCEMD) revealed that two people lost their lives with at least 70 people sustaining injury.
The management of Amtrak in it own statement disclosed that 139 passengers plus eight crew members were on board it train and was on a journey between New York and Miami where it collided with the CSX freight train.
A local news outfit claimed the train belonging to Amtrak was part of it ’ Silver Star Service and was on it way to Miami.
Derrec Becker of SCEMD revealed the injuries suffered by passengers ranged from cuts and bruises to severe broken bones and all the victims have been moved to local hospitals.
Also the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department via a statement on it website stated that it was been assisted by the Red Cross at a shelter created for the passengers which is located at nearby middle school
