IG of Police speaks on ongoing recruitment


Police IG, Ibrahim Idris, says continuous enlistment into the Force will increase Nigeria's security.

The IG made the comment in a meeting with newsmen on Saturday in Gusau after a sympathy visit over Thursday's assault in Birane town, Zurmi Local Government territory in which more than 40 individuals passed on.

He revealed that three extra police units would be conveyed to Zamfara to reinforce security.

The IGP additionally included that the police had set up an advisory group to probe the occurrence and propose measures to end such assaults.

Idris included that the Federal Government has affirmed the enlistment of 6,000 policemen in 2018, to additionally fortify security in the nation.

"We trust the enrollment would aid the administration endeavors to address security challenges confronting the nation.

"We came here sympathize with Zamfara State Government, Zurmi Emirate Council over this occurrence.

"We got grievances of shortage of police personnel from the community leaders; we will send extra three units of police versatile to the state to fortify the state police order in handling security challenges.

We will set up a board of trustees to examine the incident, for maintaining a strategic distance from the re-event of the tragedy later on.
