Herdsmen have destroyed all my maize plantation – Ondo Speaker, Oleyeloogun cries out

Some herders has attacked the local farms of the Ondo State House of Assembly speaker, Mr. Bamidele Oleyeloogun, with their cows and demolished his maize ranch.

Mr Bamidele revealed this to his associates from the six state of the South West, at the South-West Legislative Reform meeting held in Akure, Ondo State, on Tuesday.

At the gathering, where the issues confronting the locale were examined, Oleyeloogun communicated the requirement for partners to discover answers for the attacks of herders before the circumstance escalated beyond thier control.

"The issue of farmers/herders emergency is very disheartening. It is discouraging that agriculturists are never again allowed to go to their farmlands.

Something dire must be done before it turns into violence.

"I visited my farm on Monday, when I arrived, I saw that all the maize I planted had been wrecked by dairy animals of the herders and after destroying the whole plants, they moved away," Oloyeloogun said.

The thought process of the gathering, as indicated by the Speaker, was for the officials from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo states to have a shared objective in handling the crisis disturbing the state at present.

He included, "The legislative arm of government is an imperative arm of government saddled with the duties of lawmaking, approval of arrangement of open office holders, oversight capacities, among others.
