Ribadu was poisoned; Nigeria politics dominated by thieves – Obasanjo


Previous Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday said the late President Umaru Yar'Adua disorganised his laid down plans, he had set up to tackle corruption before leaving aso rock.

He expressed that the removal of former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, was the first mistake umar musa yar'adua made.

The former president revealed that Yar'Adua had permitted previous Delta State governor Ibori, to push for the substitution of Ribadu, who he said "was poisoned yet in the end survived".

Olusegun Obasanjo said these in a talk with journalist.

He, however lamented the measure of cash embezzled in the Nigerian public sector these days.

"Government related issues in Nigeria has been occupied by individuals that have stolen cash, that depends on godfatherism or even drug ring leaders, the type we have at the National Assembly presently.

"Nigerian youth should gather assets to wind up plainly politically dynamic so as to replace the present selfish politicians and bring better and reliable change to the environment.

"There must be extensive changes to guarantee we replace the old method and present the new method since Africa is seen by the Western world as a dependent people.

"For the two terms I was in power, I attempted to connect with other world pioneers utilizing my strategy which pulled in positive activities.

I clamoured for debt Weaver which we got and Africa was never again treated with despise," he stated.
