- Britain says Isreal and Palestine should share Jerusalem as their capital
The fight over the owner of Jerusalem still continues between Isreal and Palestine despite US Pres. Donald Trump announcement the official recognition of Jerusalem as part of Isreal.
The British Government didn't buy the idea of the US as it said that Jerusalem should be shared as a capital between the two countries of Jerusalem and Palestine.
According to British Foreign Minister, Boris Johnson, who made the suggestion during talk with his Palestinian counterpart, Riyad al-Malki on Monday.
The British foreign office quoted Johnson as saying, “I reiterated the UK’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and the two-state solution, the urgent need for renewed peace negotiations, and the UK’s clear and longstanding position on the status of Jerusalem."
He however said the best solution is a negotiated settlement between the Israel and Palestine as both country should share Jerusalem as it own capital city.
Last year, Dec. 8 to be precise, Donald Trump made a shocking statement as he recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Trump refused all calls from the international community as he insisted that the move which has been term controversial would not serve as a draw back for his own administration’s move to tackle the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
After the declaration Trump had ordered that the U.S. embassy br move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in what US officials say will take at least 3 years to complete the move.
