Football is not the only sporting game Nigeria is good at, the country is also a lead team in Basketball in Africa.

In the latest basketball event of the XXI Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast 2018, Nigeria is in the same group pot with Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Nigeria which holds the top spot in Africa and 32nd in the world, has the lowest ranking team in their group.

Australia, the host country which finished fourth at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games is ranked 10th in the world.

Canada on the other hand which is making it debut outing at the Commonwealth is ranked 25th in the world and with nine participation in Olympic games having won a silver medal at the 1936 Games in Berlin.

Another country is New Zealand, which is no new comer in the event as this will be the country's 21st appearance as it has been competing at every Commonwealth Games since their inception in 1930.
With this many basketball fan as dubbed the group ‘Group of Death’.

According to fixtures released yesterday, the Nigerian team, D’Tigers will play their first match against New Zealand on Friday April 6, 2018 before facing Canada, a day later while on Monday,10th of April, the Nigerian side will play against the host.

The Vice President of the NBBF, Babatunde Ogunade, while describing the group
as a ‘Group of death.’

The one time Nigerian captain said the performance of team depend on it preparation for the games and the decision from players to prove a point.
