- Gov. Yahaya Bello breaks silence on double registration by INEC
- Gov. Bello says he will speak at the appropriate time
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC few weeks ago sacked some of its staff over the double registration of Kogi state Gov. Yahaya Bello, the commission wanted to charge the Gov. but was held back by the constitution as he enjoys immunity.
Well, the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has for once broken his silence on the double registration indictment, saying he will speak on the matter at the appropriate time.
The Gov. through a Representative which is his Director General, Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, said he was “upbeat in the midst of allegation of double registration against me.”
The Gov. further said he was ready to prove his innocence.
The statement revealed Bello kept quiet over the issue because he wanted his legal team to take it up and expose the incoherence and falsehood surrounding the allegation.
He said “The governor will soon come out to lay the truth on the table."
Fanwo said INEC was contradicting it self as the electoral commission had said they had no evidence of double registration but later went ahead to give dates during which the purported double registration took place.
He also advised those calling for the governor’s resignation over what he described as a mere allegation to keep calm and wait till 2019 as they have exposed their ignorance and desperation.
He finally said; “The governor will clear his name. But he remains focused on his goal of making Kogi a better place for all.”
