Fuel scarcity: NNPC threatens to shut stations hoarding fuel

The Group Managing Director (GMD), Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, Tuesday said the Federal Government would use what he named "forceful measure" to handle the progressing counterfeit shortage of oil based goods within the nation.

As indicated by him, the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) will not just apportion free fuel to drivers and different individuals from the general population from filling stations discovered accumulating items, yet seal the such stations.

Baru gave the notice in Ibefun, Ogun State, during the introduction of 300million liters tank cultivate sited in the group by Petrolex Mega Oil City.

Baru credited the fake shortage of fuel to the exercises of deceitful advertisers who he blamed for storing the item.

"We more likely than not saw the sudden return of fuel lines in a few sections of the nation a week ago; this is sadly inferable from the exercises of some autonomous advertisers who are accumulating the item in expectation of saw (increment in) cost of oil based commodity.

"We've said it time and time that the legislature and NNPC has no goal of expanding the cost of oil right now.

"Pushing ahead be that as it may, DPR will be more forceful in abridging this threat via locking any oil station discovered crowding oil based goods. The items will be administered to drivers for nothing without payment, so be on watch," Baru said.
