Repair works have started on the runaway of the Akanu ibiam international Airport The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria on Thursday stated.
Mrs Herrienta Yakubu , the General Manager accountable for Corporate Affairs , FAAN , expressed this in an announcement she issued in Lagos on Thursday.
She said that the main period of the repair works would keep running from Dec . 14 to Dec . 21 , 2017 , while the second stage would be between Dec . 27 , 2017 and Jan . 4 , 2018 .
" There will be skeletal operations at the air terminal while the work is progressing as the runway will open for operations from 0700 hours nearby time till 1500 hours neighborhood time on the proposed dates.
" This is to empower the contractual worker has enough working hours amid the day time keeping in mind the end goal to get steady and even runway surface , while likewise finishing the work inside the stipulated time span .
" In accordance with Standards and Recommended Practices , FAAN has asked for the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency to issue a Notice To Air Men (NOTAM) in such manner , '' she said .
She stated FAAN apologized to proposing travellers and the overall population for any burden the activity may have on their plans .
