- Eighteen people lose their lives in a Road accident in DR Congo
- Reason for the accident is owing to the bad conditions of the road
Tragedy struck in African country, Democratic Republic of Congo after over Eighteen people melt their unexpected death on Friday when a truck loaded with goods and passengers overturned on a major highway in eastern part of the country. The accident has also been confirmed by the Country's Government.
In details, the crash occurred at Bulambika, on the highway linking Bukavu and Kisangani, in the northeast district of Bunyakiri.
According to interior minister of South Kivu province, Luke Mulimbalimba during a statement with reporters, he said; "The official toll on the basis of the report from Bunyakiri is eighteen deaths."
He however, said 12 of the passengers have been taken to an hospital in Bukavu in a rescue operation carried out with the aid of two helicopters and three ambulances.
According to Jean Mwanuka who is in charge of the administrative district of Bunyakiri, he said the reason for the crash was attributed to the poor condition of the road.
From past records deadly road accidents are common in DR Congo, owing to excess speed, overloading and poor vehicle maintenance by car owners.
