8 Feared dead in Ogun state auto crash


No less than eight people, including six
guys and two females, have passed on, while nine others got bad degrees of damage in an early morning accident that happened on Saturday at Olorunpodo Junction, close Ogbere, Ogun State, along Lagos-Sagamu-Benin Expressway.

It was assembled that the car accident, which included a Toyota Hiace transport with enrollment number ETU 409 XA and a Volvo, with number plate KRD 908 XN, happened around 5.30am and was caused by rash driving with respect to the truck driver.

As per the representative of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, the truck driver, going to Benin was driving against the road traffic when it slammed into the business transport heading towards Ijebu Ode.

Akinbiyi expressed that the harmed, including the driver of the transport, who later passed on at the clinic, were saved and taken to a private healing hospital at J4 Area of Ogbere, while the remaining parts of the dead casualties, have been kept at the mortuary of the General Hospital, Ijebu Ode.

He expressed further that the destruction of the business transport and the Volvo, had been cleared and towed to the Ogbere police headquarters.

Affirming the incident the Corps Commander of the Ogun State Traffic Management officer, Seni Ogunyemi, has
cautioned drivers of truck vehicles driving towards a path banned by traffic law, taking note of that "they need to also consider other road users most particularly, amid the 'ember' months.
